Flunked!

Well that’s me finished with NaNoWriMo for this year. I must admit that my heart just wasn’t in it. I just wanted to knit and crochet and having joined a challenge on Ravelry, called appropriately NaKnitNo, in which I had to do 30,000 stitches during the month of November, I was constantly tempted to leave my writing. I did eventually trump up 23,000 plus words and I know more about my characters and where they are going, and one or two little bits of the jigsaw story have slotted together quite nicely…so all is not lost. I knew I could do it, as I had managed it last year, so I didn’t have anything to prove, but it would have been good to accomplish it again. Nevermind, there is always next year. I did manage the thirty thousand stitches though 🙂

One of the other problems I had was thanks to the post office. Whether here or in the US, two of my swaps failed to arrive at their destination, which meant I had to do them all over again. I thought i had cleared all my swaps ready for writing, so this was a nuisance and also took up extra time. One of the swaps has arrived, thank goodness and I am hoping that the other will arrive very shortly. These are the replacement swaps…onne for an ATC Frog (and I did extras) and one for a Cactus Postcard. I have sent the postcard in an envelope, having emailed the recipent and asked her what she felt about not getting it stamped. We agreed an envelope might be safer, so I included an ATC for her as well, as she had been very patient.

the story so far…

Yes, it’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short, or even better – Nano!) I participated last year and enjoyed it so much that I am back for more gruelling word counting. Besides, having completed my 50,000 words last year, I found I had only written half my novel, so I am back to do the other half this year. The coffee is weighimg the cupboard down, the pencils are sharpened (so to speak, but I use the computer most of the time) and I am raring to go. It all kicks off on November 1st and finishes at midnight on November 30th, so wish me luck and good luck to everyone who participates.

Those who are interested will be able to keep track of my progress via the widgets in the sidebar.

One of my Swap-bot groups held a Nano Mascot swap. This was my effort. My swap-partner loves owls so I made my first piece of amigurumi, added a relevant quote, and my mascot turned out like this!

My swap partner has just receieved him and says she loves him, so I hope she finds him inspiring. I have not received my swap yet.
